About BugTape

BugTape

BugTape captures supported browser errors and failed requests automatically when the browser SDK is installed, along with a short DOM replay, console, and stack, grouped into one issue. An authorized coding agent can read this evidence over MCP and propose a change, which the developer reviews. The site states that agent responses or pull requests do not prove a fix works. SDKs are available for browsers (npm @bugtape/sdk), Node.js (@bugtape/node), Python (bugtape), and a Swift handled-error alpha. Request and response bodies are not captured, inputs are masked by default, and replay is reconstructed page activity rather than video. Free plan includes one project, three members, 100 new issues and 150 credits a month with seven-day event retention; Pro is $29 a month. A live demo runs locally in the browser and sends nothing.

Key features

  • Automatic capture of supported browser errors and failed requests
  • Short DOM replay of page activity with each report
  • Console output and stack captured with the issue
  • Grouping of steps, failed request, console and stack into one issue
  • MCP server for coding agents to read captured evidence
  • CLI setup via npx bugtape init
  • Node.js SDK capturing server errors with route context
  • Python SDK capturing exceptions with context
  • Swift package for handled errors (alpha; no fatal-crash or native replay)
  • Input masking by default; strict mode also masks page text
  • Live demo using synthetic data

Best suited for

  • Web app developers wanting error evidence before user reports

Pricing

Free is $0 (one project, three members, 100 new issues and 150 credits a month). Prepaid credits are $10 for 2,000 credits. Pro is $29 a month with unlimited projects and agent reads over MCP included.
